Who is an Operations Analyst?

An Operations Analyst is in charge of finding and resolving problems related to the performance of company operations. To do this, massive volumes of data and information must be examined and assessed with the help of the sales management and technical departments. Depending on the sector, an operations analyst may advance to handling several enterprise accounts at the regional or national level.

Operations analysts assess a company's policies, operations, and procedures, identify flaws and chances for improvement, and develop and implement new initiatives to ensure optimal operational performance and output.

What do they do?

Analyze complicated data sets, find flaws or possibilities, and collaborate with entry-level management and staff to put improvements in place. An excellent operations analyst should be able to assist personnel at all levels and create new procedures and workflows to improve operations.

Roles and Responsibilities of Operations Analyst:

  • Examine business processes and corporate policies to assist improve workflow and building a better firm.

  • Work with top management to analyze work duties and change employee and departmental assignments to meet the demands of the firm.

  • Collaborate with the sales and operations teams to identify cost-effective business practices that will attract new customers.

  • Provide management with a monthly report on market changes and how to capitalize on those trends by changing corporate practices.

  • Identifying operational requirements and areas for improvement.

  • Observing processes, reviewing corporate reports, conducting staff interviews, and other methods of gathering knowledge

  • Choosing the best ways for analyzing operations, important information, and data.

  • Findings must be documented, reports must be prepared, and suggestions must be made.

  • Creating new processes and procedures in order to improve operations.

  • Employees must be trained to use new systems or procedures.

  • Determining the efficacy of new methods

  • Creating and sustaining quality standards.

  • Ensuring that regulatory criteria are met.

 

Requirements:

  •  A bachelor's degree in business administration or a related subject is necessary, with a master's degree recommended.

  • 2+ years of experience as an operations analyst or in a comparable job is required.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.

  • Extensive knowledge of statistics and database software.

  • Consulting and project management abilities are required.

  • Excellent multitasking and time management abilities.

  • Exhibits business acumen

  • Provides data-driven advice and possesses excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.

  • Reports are presented to decision-makers, and exceptional written and verbal communication skills are required.
